Work From Home Hotel Rating: A shocking case has come to light in Greater Noida, where a person was cheated of more than Rs 20 lakh in the name of ‘work-from-home hotel rating’. After this scam, it has been proved once again that people need to be cautious in cases of online fraud. Let’s know about this scam.
How was the person cheated?
A person living in Greater Noida received a call from an unknown number in which he was offered ‘work-from-home hotel rating’. The caller introduced himself as the manager of a famous hotel booking portal and said that he would be given the work of rating hotels from home. In return, he would be paid a hefty amount.
The caller explained to the person that he had to rate different hotels and in return he would earn a lot of money. The person agreed to this tempting offer and the caller sent him a link asking him to download an app.
Fake app and demand for money
When the person downloaded the app and filled in his bank details, he saw that initially some money was being sent to him. This convinced the person that the work was genuine but after a few days the caller asked him to deposit money again and again citing different reasons. The person kept giving money one by one and later he realised that he had been duped.
After a few days, the person came to know that a big scam had happened with him. By then, the person had lost 20 lakh 54 thousand rupees. He neither got any work nor any opportunity to get a hotel rating. The person lodged a complaint with the police, after which the police have started investigating the case.
